Parsippany Chamber Kicks-Off First Annual Career & Job Fair
A Different Approach To Helping The Community and Our Local Economy

The Parsippany Area Chamber of Commerce is launching a new and innovative “Employment Outreach Program” designed to help local individuals who are unemployed, in transition, currently employed or new to the workforce.

“We are stepping forward with our Employment Outreach Program in these difficult times to stimulate the local economy through development of our current and future workforce,” said Craig Schlosser, Executive Director for the Parsippany Chamber.

The program was originally inspired two years ago by the vision and insight of Craig Schlosser.  His creative plans and ideas were immediately embraced by the Chamber’s President, Robert Peluso. They embarked on a campaign to roll out the idea to partners and Chamber members in an effort to gain critical support for these important initiatives.

“This initiative only further demonstrates the Chamber’s commitment to building and sustaining a successful community for our businesses, residents and volunteers” said Robert Peluso.

Enlisting the help and expertise of local experts, Craig tapped Chamber member Connie Mascioli, Human Resources Consultant and owner of Ridgedale Business Solutions as co-chair for the Employment Outreach Committee, and the program’s design was actively underway towards completion!

The resulting 2009 Employment Outreach Program is designed as a total economic and workforce development initiative; and features ongoing services and support through:

  • An informative monthly newsletter containing job search tips and resources, career development ideas, and listings of current job postings.
  • Timely and relevant educational programs.
  • Consolidated resources available through one website (www.employmentoutreach.org).
  • Planned special events.

The exciting “kick-off” event will be the first annual Career & Job Fair scheduled for Wednesday, April 29th at the Meadow Wood Manor in Randolph.  The fair begins at 4:30 p.m. for high school and college students.  At 5:30 p.m. the job fair will open for current workplace professionals.  But don’t expect the “usual” type of job fair!

The format will feature presentations, networking opportunities, informative seminars for high school and college students, free resume review, along with access to companies who have current job openings and are ready to hire!

All Career & Job Fair proceeds from sponsors will fund two important programs:

  • Scholarship Program:  Designed to support the Chamber’s commitment to develop and sustain a qualified, capable and dedicated workforce for the future.
  • Internship Program:  Developed to provide students with real-world experience to help transition from school to the workplace.

The Parsippany Area Chamber of Commerce proudly serves Parsippany and the surrounding communities by supporting businesses, merchants, and residents through education, information, and networking opportunities.
